  8.                                USER-SUPPORTED SOFTWARE
  9.            
  10.                User-supported software,  which is also known  as Shareware,
  11.           is an experiment in  microcomputer software distribution based on
  12.           The following principles:
  13.            
  14.                1. That  the value or worth  of a program is  best judged by
  15.           the individual user using the program on his/her own machine.
  16.            
  17.                2.  That  the  creation and  distribution  of  microcomputer
  18.           software  can be  financially  supported by  users at  reasonable
  19.           cost.
  20.            
  21.                3.  That the copying and sharing of software can and is 
  22.           encouraged. 
  23.            
  24.                Anyone may  request a  copy of  a user-supported  program by
  25.           sending  a blank, formatted disk to the author of the program. An
  26.           addressed, postage-paid return mailer must accompany the disk (no
  27.           exceptions, please). A copy of the program, with documentation on
  28.           the disk, will be sent  by return mail. The program will  carry a
  29.           notice suggesting a contribution  to the program's author. Making
  30.           a contribution is completely voluntary. 
  31.            
  32.                Free distribution of software  and voluntary payment for its
  33.           use eliminates costs for advertising and copy protection schemes.
  34.           Users  obtain quality software at  reduced cost. They  can try it
  35.           out before buying, and do so at their own pace and in the comfort
  36.           of their own home or office. The best programs will survive based
  37.           purely on their quality and usefulness.
  38.            
  39.                Please join the experiment.  If you share a belief  in these
  40.           principles,  your contribution  is  requested to  help make  this
  41.           work.  Regardless of  whether you  make a  contribution,  you are
  42.           encouraged to copy and share this program.

  45.                                   PERMISSION TO COPY

  47.                Individuals, clubs, and  other non-profit organizations  are
  48.           granted permission by the authors to freely copy this program and
  49.           documentation and share it with their members, so long as:
  50.  
  51.           1.  No  price  is  charged for  the  software  or  documentation.
  52.           However, a distribution, copying  cost or charge for the  cost of
  53.           the diskette, so long as it is not more than $6.00 total.

  55.           2.  Club  members be  informed  of  the user-supported  idea  and
  56.           encouraged to support it with their donations. 
  57.            
  58.           3.  The program(s) or documentation  are not modified  in any way
  59.           and they are distributed together.
